Who are we?
We are a group of Kitsilano residents who live in the area of the proposed redevelopment. We are supportive of good social housing in our neighbourhood, now home to 24 social housing sites . We accept the City's need to increase density, but strongly feel that--rather than being haphazardly granted--rezoning must be planned, reasonable and respect neighbourhood scale. We came together because we were concerned about the excessive proposed density for this site, the lack of meaningful consultation, and the undemocratic planning process for this building.
WE ARE ANGRY THAT THE INTRANSIGENCE OF CITY PLANNING HAS LEFT NEIGHBOURS IN THE DIFFICULT POSITION OF HAVING TO OPPOSE A PROJECT FOR MUCH-NEEDED SOCIAL HOUSING.
